Spacestocks is an exchange that shows its work. Every rule is public, every order is accounted for, and every decision is written down.
What we hold ourselves to
Show the rules
How an order is matched is written in plain words, for anyone to read. Nothing is decided where you cannot see it.
Never lose a confirmed order
A confirmation means the order is on disk. We prove it by killing the server mid-trade, over and over.
Only ever move money
Cash and shares change hands. They are never created or destroyed, and our tests check the totals after every step.
Write it down
Every design choice gets a short record: what we chose, what we rejected, and the test that keeps it true.
Why an exchange
An exchange is a small program with no room for error. Two orders reach for the same cash, a cancel races a fill, the power goes out halfway through a trade. Getting those cases right is the whole job, and the reason we built one.
How we build
- Every change is reviewed before it lands.
- Every decision is recorded, with the test that keeps it true.
- We plant bugs on purpose to prove that our tests catch them.
